Campo del Cielo, Iron Meteorite, $1,200

The Campo del Cielo Meteorite shown above comes from Gran Chaco Gualamba, Chaco, Argentina. The first meteorite pieces were discovered by Spanish explorers in 1572.

Thousands of pieces have been found near some impact craters, the largest weighing an immense 37 TONS!

Current pieces are from a new find, many miles from the original strewn field, in a closed forest, several feet underground with no standing water. They are in great condition, rivaling Gibeon or Sikhote in character.

They are gorgeous individuals, fully regmaglypted, with no rust! The old Campos are found in the lowlands and have been immersed in damp soil for centuries and as a result they are rust balls.

These are good investment pieces, as they are great looking large meteorites!

Iron (IA) coarse Octahedrite with silicate inclusions, coarse (3.0mm), Type: IA

For all you chemists out there--this is the Chemistry of the Campo del Cielo:

Group I, 6.68% Ni, 0.43% Co, 0.25% P, 87 ppm Ga, 407 ppm GE, 3.6 ppm Ir. The remaining portion of the meterorite is Iron.
